Wes to be Honored at the Dreamcatcher Foundation Gala

Posted by on Oct 13, 2013 in Blog |

I’m excited to share that the Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation is honoring me this year with a Dreamcatcher Award on Oct. 24 in Hamilton, Ontario at their celebrated Annual Gala. I’m in amazing company, with five other highly talented artists also being recognized.

The Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation, located in Canada, provides support to the Aboriginal community through grants to individuals with a goal of developing youth as future leaders. For nine years now the Foundation has provided resources to First Nations communities across Canada. They help fund things like sports, recreation, arts, culture, health and education. In addition to assisting youth (a service near and dear to my heart), they also assist adults in receiving the proper care and assistance they deserve to achieve dreams they would otherwise not be able to realize.

The Gala will take place at the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen’s in Hamilton. Other amazing folks in attendance include our hosts, Lorne Cardinal and Michelle Thrush, and performances by Shawn McQuiller from Kool and the Gang.

Here is what the Gala folks say:

Other guests include Ludacris (singer, rapper, actor) as a guest of honour and presenter, plus Adam Beach, Susan Aglukark, Sass Jordan, Andrea Menard, Bronson Pelletier, Emmanuel Lewis, Gil Birmingham, Doug Gilmour, Wendel Clark, Taboo from Black Eyed Peas and many more!

This year we will once again be honoring six worthy individuals with our Dreamcatcher Awards for their outstanding contributions in their fields of endeavor: Wes Studi (Arts and Culture), Jesse Smith (Sports), Suzie Miller (Education), Dr. Greg Frazer (Health) and the two Dreamcatcher Lifetime Achievement awards will be presented to Stan Jonathan and one in honor of Jay Silverheels.
